Q: How does the skin renew itself?

A: The human body is a dynamic organism that continually regenerates itself. The skin is the largest organ of the body, and it is also considered an important part of the immune, elimination, respiratory, and temperature control systems of the body. The epidermis is the top layer of the skin (approximately 10% of the skin). The stratum corneum is the outermost layer of the epidermis and is comprised of keratinized (old, devitalized, dead) cells that normally slough off during daily activity, bathing and rubbing against clothing.
